DHS Hires New Chemistry Teacher

By Sarah Sabino 21'

As we enter a new school year, students get to experience classes with a new host of teachers. Some of their teachers have been here for a number of years, while others are new to the district. Mr. Oprysk joins the science department as the new chemistry teacher. When walking into his classroom, one can find a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Mr. Oprysk taught at South Plainfield High School for about a year. He went to New Jersey’s state college, Rutgers University. At Rutgers, he majored in Bio-Technology. His love of science drove him to his major. If he was not working at DHS, he would be working in a diagnostic lab. He and his fellow labmates would take samples given to them by a doctor and test them for diseases and or infections.

Mr. Oprysk is very appeased with his experience here at DHS so far. He loves DHS and explains how “well-behaved and attentive the students are.” He is also pleased by the friendly and welcoming faculty. He chose DHS because he recognized how good our school is, how it is close to where he lives, and he enjoys how friendly Dunellen is. Something different that he has noticed about Dunellen is definitely the size of our school, noting that “we’re quite small.” He wishes to carry the techniques he has learned to Dunellen and is open to learning new techniques and strategies every day.

As a new teacher, Mr. Oprysk would like his students to know that he is more than happy to share his personal experiences and is overall an open book to the students. Besides teaching chemistry, Mr. Oprysk enjoys sports, music, art, spending time with his friends, and board games. The only slight challenge he faces getting adjusted to his new environment and just learning where everything is. Other than that, Mr. Oprysk thoroughly enjoys his experience at DHS.
